On Saturday, February 7th, 2026, Island SPACE Caribbean Museum will host Reggae Genealogy: Lights. Camera. Reggae.

The immersive audiovisual experience will take attendees on a musical journey, celebrating the influence of Jamaica music on film, television and pop culture in Hollywood and around the globe.

From James Bond to Disney, from Grand Theft Auto to Grey’s Anatomy, our Caribbean music has had an influence everywhere.

  • No smoking, alcohol, drugs, marijuana or violence. All persons entering the event will be searched.
  • Discounted pre-sold pricing ends on February 6. General admission and VIP tickets are $10 – $20 more at the door. Early ticket purchase is encouraged for best pricing!

Parking Instructions for General Admission Ticket Holders.

FREE shuttle service will be provided between the parking lot and Volunteer Park.
Access to Reggae Genealogy at Volunteer Park will be provided only to those with wristbands on the shuttles.
There will be NO on-site parking or access without wristbands for general admission at Volunteer Park. Access will be available only via shuttle transfer from the Sawgrass Mills Mall parking lot.

1. What is Reggae Genealogy?

Reggae Genealogy is an immersive music festival and cultural showcase that traces the evolution of Jamaican music and its powerful influence on film, television, and global pop culture. Through live performances, storytelling, dancers, DJs, visuals, and narration, the show celebrates reggae, dancehall, and more.
This year’s theme — Lights, Camera, Reggae! — explores how Jamaican sound has shaped some of the world’s most iconic screen moments.

3. What types of tickets are available and what are the prices?

We offer General Admission (Adult), General Admission (Child), and VIP tickets.

General Admission – Adults

  • Presold: $30 (January 8 – February 6)
  • Gate Price: $40

General Admission – Children (ages 6–15)

  • Presold: $10

  • Gate Price: $15
    Children under 6 enter free.

VIP Admission

  • Presold: $85 (January 8 – February 6)
  • Gate Price: $105

General Admission

  • Priority proximity for interactions with participating elite guests

5. How do I purchase tickets?

Tickets are available online via Eventbrite processing at https://reggaegenealogy.org/tickets.
Physical ticket locations may be added — please check back on the site for updates.

6. Are tickets refundable?

Yes — tickets are refundable until two weeks before the event, which is January 24, 2026.

After this date, tickets are non-refundable.

In the unlikely event of a cancellation, all tickets will automatically roll over to the rescheduled date. Refunds will be available upon request; however, as a nonprofit organization, widespread refund requests may significantly impact our sustainability. We encourage ticket holders to retain their tickets whenever possible to help us continue producing cultural programming for the community.

7. Can I buy tickets at the gate?

Yes. Gate sales are available beginning at 4:00 PM on event day.
Please note: Gate prices are higher than presale prices, so early purchase is encouraged.

8. What time should I arrive?
  • Gates open: 4:00 PM

  • Showtime: 6:30 PM

We recommend arriving early to enjoy food, vendors, and pre-show activities.

9. What can I expect at the festival?

Expect an unforgettable cultural experience that blends live bands, dancers, DJs, dramatic narration, archival film clips, and a sweeping musical journey through Jamaica’s global influence. The atmosphere is lively, family-friendly, and celebratory, with delicious Caribbean food, artisan craft vendors, and activities for adults and children before showtime.

10. What items are prohibited?

For the safety and comfort of all patrons, the following are not permitted:

  • Smoking

  • Alcohol

  • Illegal drugs

  • Weapons

  • Violence or disruptive behavior

All attendees are subject to security screening.

11. Are children allowed?

Yes. Children of all ages are welcome.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

12. Where do I park?

Parking and rideshare drop-off for General Admission is available ONLY at Sawgrass Mills Mall. You can download parking instructions here and look out for signage on the day of the event. 

VIP parking is available inside the main Volunteer Park parking lot from 118th Ave.

Disabled parking for those who require wheelchairs only is available in the VIP parking lot.

13. Will there be security?

Yes. Professional security personnel will be on site throughout the event.
All bags and persons entering may be searched upon entry.

14. What is your weather or cancellation policy?

The event will proceed rain or shine unless conditions become unsafe.
If the event must be canceled or postponed, all tickets will automatically roll over to the new date. Refunds will be available upon request, though we encourage attendees to retain their tickets to support Island SPACE’s nonprofit mission.

15. Can I purchase tickets as gifts?

Absolutely. Tickets make great gifts! Simply forward the Eventbrite email to the recipient.

16. How will I receive my ticket?

Tickets are emailed via Eventbrite immediately upon purchase.
For fastest entry, we recommend:

There is no will-call for this event.

ID should be brought for general purposes.
Alcohol will not be sold on-site.

Please note: The festival takes place on a grassy park field, so guests should plan footwear and mobility needs accordingly.

Yes. Expect:

21. Who presents and sponsors the festival?

Reggae Genealogy is presented by Island SPACE Caribbean Museum and sponsored by the Broward County Cultural Division and the City of Plantation.
Additional sponsors will be announced as the event approaches.

22. Do ticket prices increase over time?

Yes — purchasing early provides the best savings.
Ticket prices increase on January 7 and again on event day.

23. Is there a dress code?

Yes.

  • General Admission: Casual attire is perfect. We encourage guests to show their Caribbean pride by wearing their island’s colors or flag-inspired outfits.

  • VIP Guests:Island Chic” is recommended — polished, stylish, and tropical-inspired.

  • All Attendees: The event takes place on a grassy park lawn, so we strongly recommend comfortable, stable footwear.
